A selection of my favorites from February openings in the Bay Area:
Joyce Gordon Gallery • Heirloom by Bryan Keith Thomas
406 14th St. Oakland, CA 94612
Small cloth bags hang from the paintings and represent the physical and spiritual remains of African and African American ancestors.
1st Amendment Gallery • Inamorata
1000 Howard St. SF, CA 94103
Murals outside the gallery complemented fine art pieces by the same artists showcased inside.
LeQuivive • Pack Rat’s Paradise by Tim the Optimist
1525 Webster St. Oakland, CA 94612
Optimist is a prevalent local graffiti artist
Bass & Reiner Gallery • Powers of Ten
3265 17th St, Suite 402 SF, CA 94110
I esp. loved Emily Russell’s sculptures – concrete with baroque architectural models on the inside painted in gold acrylic. They were fun to pick up and look through.
My sister in the stairwell at Bass Reiner 😉
FFDG • Mike Giant Solo Show
2277 Mission St. SF, CA 94110
All works by Mike Giant
I loved the funny little poems bordering the flash

Not sure, but I think this is Minka Sicklinger
